Banjo Bay

Banjo at Epsom on Derby Day 2004. In the six furlong handicap he led the field around Tattenham Corner and to the two furlong marker at a blistering pace.

Banjo is another old soldier from the sprinting ranks. He has run in the top handicaps and distinguished himself from time to time.

Highlights of his career include winning a £10,000 handicap at Goodwood in 2003 and a close second in the 2001 Great St Wilfred Handicap off a handicap mark of 88.

Our Middleham Park syndicate had him from winter 2003/4 to May 2006. At eight years old he is not as good as he was but in his first run of 2006 he came home a smooth winner. Since being sold he has won a further two Class 6 handicaps, so there is still plenty of life left in the old fella.
